Terms of Use

The conditions that apply to this independent and unofficial Proton Drive fan website.

Last updated: October 2, 2026. proton-drive.com is an independent, fan-created information website published by a small group of Proton users. It is not owned, operated, sponsored, represented, approved, monitored, or endorsed by Proton AG or any of its affiliates. Proton, Proton Drive, Proton Mail, Proton AG, and all related product names, logos, interfaces, and trade marks belong to their respective owners and appear on these pages only to identify the subject of an independent discussion.

This is not an official Proton website

We are not the software publisher, a distributor, an authorised reseller, a licensing provider, a customer portal, or an accredited support partner. Nothing on these pages should be read as a statement, announcement, or instruction from Proton AG. Product information, official applications, subscription terms, security advisories, storage allowances, compatibility details, account help, and legitimate technical support must always be obtained from Proton itself or from a source Proton designates.

This distinction matters for your safety as well as for accuracy. Our domain, our pages, our postal address, and our contact address have no connection whatsoever to a Proton Drive account. Anyone who asks you to sign in "through us", to verify your library, to restore a deleted archive, or to increase your storage as part of a support conversation is attempting to take your files or your account. Treat such a request as an attempted theft and report the page.

No account access and no sign-in service

This website does not provide access to any customer's Proton account or file library. We do not ask for, receive, store, verify, or reset account passwords, individual logins, one-time codes, recovery kits, subscription keys, or account identifiers. We have no ability to open a drive, extend a subscription, transfer your files to you, recover an overwritten document, or close a session on your device.

Only Proton's own domains and official applications can perform a genuine Proton Drive login. We are not able to verify one, and we will never ask you to prove your identity to us. If anyone contacts you claiming to represent this website and requests library contents or an account password, change that password through the official process immediately and treat the entire conversation as hostile.

Educational purpose

Our articles explain general concepts: how end-to-end encrypted storage behaves, what an account password does and does not do, how synchronisation across devices works, what version history can and cannot recover, how share links and shared folders differ, and how to organise files so they remain findable after years. They are general education rather than configuration instructions for a specific environment, a security audit, professional advice, or a guarantee that a particular feature or plan will suit you.

Plans, storage tiers, device limits, feature availability, and vendor policy change regularly. Current official documentation always takes priority over anything written here, including articles we have already published and would be glad to correct on request. Where this site and Proton disagree, Proton is right and this page is out of date.

Acceptable use

Use this site only with accounts, devices, and data you are authorised to access or manage. Do not attempt to use the site to bypass authentication, defeat encryption, remove security warnings, probe infrastructure you do not own, scrape the site at scale, or interfere with its operation. Automated abuse of any kind is prohibited.

Users remain solely responsible for their own data security: maintaining their devices, protecting their account password, reviewing active sessions, revoking access they no longer need, keeping a separate local copy of anything that cannot be replaced, and following current official guidance. Uploading a file to an encrypted drive is a copy, not a guarantee, and deleting the original before verifying the upload is your own risk to take.

Accuracy and availability

We aim to publish original, careful, and readable material, but we cannot guarantee that every statement is complete, current, or error-free. Descriptions of features may lag behind a release, storage allowances may differ by region or promotion, and an interface may change without notice. Screenshots and step descriptions should be treated as orientation, not as exact instructions, and no article here should be your only source for an important procedure.

The site may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We do not offer any uptime commitment and recommend that you never depend on a third-party fan website as part of a working backup or security routine.

External links

Links to other websites are provided for context or convenience. We do not control their content, availability, files, cookies, security practices, or privacy policies, and a link does not imply a partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement. Check the destination domain carefully before entering an account password, installing software, or trusting any page that asks you to hand over credentials.

Intellectual property

Our original editorial text and site design may not be republished wholesale, presented as official documentation, or used in a way that misrepresents a relationship with Proton AG. Limited quotation may be permitted by applicable law when attributed accurately and fairly. Third-party trademarks, product names, screenshots, and materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used under applicable permissions or fair-use principles.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of this site are not liable for file loss, data loss, account loss, security incidents, unauthorised access, business interruption, lost profit, lost work, or any other direct or indirect consequence arising from the use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that applicable law does not permit us to exclude, and nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.

Privacy, changes, and contact

Our Privacy Policy describes our limited processing of technical data and contact messages. Never send an account password, recovery kit, private key, payment details, or unredacted screenshots of your file library — not in an email, not through the contact form, and not in any conversation with our team.

We may revise these terms when the site, our content, or applicable requirements change, and the date at the top identifies the current version. Continued use of the website after publication means that the current version applies. Questions about this independent website may be sent to support@proton-drive.com.
